Jennifer Tania Takoh popularly known as T’neeya is a Cameroonian-born singer and songwriter currently based in Ghana.
While growing up in Douala and Limbe, Cameroon music has always been her core passion and drive. During her formative years in boarding school T’neeya trained her ear through Gospel music and was involved in her school choir, leading 600 girls and competing in several local talent shows.
At the age of 18 she moved to Germany where she studied Fashion Design and become deeply influenced by music. Between Berlin, London and New York T’neeya regularly performed at local bars and wrote for various artists. Here she became inspired by the sounds of Erykah Badu, Lauryn Hill and Bob Marley. Jazz and soul artists also fed her appetite for music.
T’neeya subsequently moved to Ghana to pursue her music career full time. Here is when she met Aristokrat’s Head of A&R, Shay Jones signing in 2017. She has released two singles since signing: “Low Battery” (2018) and “Text Me” (2018).
T’neeya’s pan-African and Afrobeats influences are indicative in how she shares her music through Pidgin, English and French. She has worked with globally recognized artists and producers such as Kel-P and Toni Hauschild.
Her most recent single “Joli” has up to 90,000 views on YouTube in less than two weeks of release. The lo-fi sounds of the record was produced by Kel-P who has worked with Burna Boy, Ceeza Milli and Wizkid. “Joli Gars” meaning pretty boy in French shows a very confident and playful side to the Aristokrat Record artist as she boldly expresses her affection.
The accompanying music video dives further into the sensual vibe with warm tones, eye catching physiques and rhythmic dances.
“Joli” is a follow up from her latest feature “Part Time” with Odunsi the Engine and GMK.
T’neeya is currently working on her upcoming album set to release top of 2020.
