A Gush Of Spiteful Speech from an Ignorant Perspective; GOSSIP
Or, Mother Gossip cos this is a word that has established itself as a deity
in the hearts of humanity.
“When was the last time you spoke a kind word about someone?
When was the last time you resisted the urge to chip in a spiteful comment about a fellow?
When was the last time you gave a compliment
And from your heart it was something you really meant?
This is not a teaser.
I just want you to be true to yourself by taking a sail on the sea of your heart,
giving no heed to the winds of self righteousness and justification
to answer this question.
When was the last time you spoke a kind word about someone?
Words, W-O-R-D-S.
Words has a Way Of Revealing the Depth of your Soul.
Out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks
and as a man thinks so is he.
So let’s solve the math:
Out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks equals
(=) your words are your thoughts.
As a man thinks, so is he equals
(=) your thoughts are you.
Therefore, your words are your thoughts plus (+) your thoughts are you equals
(=) your words are you.
This implies that I don’t have to ask questions, listen to lies or
become a mind reader to know you because merely listening to your conversations from afar would reveal the kind of person that you are.
So think before you speak and choose the words that you use because it does one of these to you ‘make’ or ‘mar’
But we’ll dwell on the speech that mar.
G-O-S-S-I-P.
A Gush Of Spiteful Speech from an Ignorant Perspective; GOSSIP
Or, Mother Gossip cos this is a word that has established itself as a deity
in the hearts of humanity.
We may define it as casual talk in simplicity and sincerity
But that ‘casual talk’ could be creating a dent on someone’s personality.
Others engage in this because of a distorted mentality
But the gravity of their speciality is in the deep wounds they inflict their victims,
stripping them of their joy and leaving them in emotional poverty.
No wonder Benjamin Franklin said thus
“A slip of the foot you may soon recover but a slip if the tongue you may never get over'”
For a word spoken is like a burst bubble that is lost forever.
After all Math and words,
How about some practice?
Like the stick to the blind,
May your conscience be your guide.”

Absolutely amazing. A lot of people these days find it very easy to drop hateful comments. Sadly, most of them don’t even know the effect and power of their words. Thanks for this piece Chinenye!!!
Just like your on air moniker “amazing”, so is the magnificent array of words used herein. Beyond the words, the message is all encompassing, if only, we humans could adhere to good morals, if only… Great work Aneta.
Nice. Deep. Thoughtful. You hit all the right notes and brought home a dominant menacing issue in our society. And you’ve got style, i just love the way you used your words to talk about WORDS. Well done!
