Kriz Beatz: A Music Production Giant On The Rise

If you are a lover of Nigerian music and you follow the industry trends, then we probably have one thing in common, the love for the Tekno performed song Pana. The song is such a hit that it played from speaker to speaker across the length and breadth of the country. At some point, it was even referred to as the “national anthem,” to show the wide circulation that the song got.

In some quarters, the song is considered the biggest song in Nigeria for the year 2016. The song is perhaps enjoying more commercial success than was initially expected and it seems fans across the world are pleasantly surprised at the beauty of the song. Tekno is getting all the praise for coming through on the song but really, a fair share of the praise should go to the brain behind the sound, in person of Kriz Beatz, who likes to be called the Drummer Boy.

The dread-haired producer whose real name is Chris Alvin Sunday, created the masterpiece. From my observation, the Pana sound is made in such a way that the originality of the African sound is held firm while other musical elements were used to compliment it, making the sound so infectiously beautiful that even Ludacris and Trey Songs from outside of Africa, recognized its beauty.

This brilliance of sound has now become the trade mark for Kriz Beatz, who pulled off a similar showpiece on RunTown’s For Life. The producer, who also entertains as a DJ, seems to know the sound that Naija people like and how to make it. On most of his other works the creative touch and the charm is usually very evident. A good music observer would have noticed the varying degree to which he experiments with Indian sounds. This adds to the dance appeal of his sound, which usually comes out as fine music to the ear.

The budding producer, who studied Music Technology in South Africa, has made his sound, his most vocal tool. For him, through production he gets to express himself. He would be releasing an album sometime later in 2017, and his lineup of featured artistes looks like a team of avengers. Names likes Wande Coal, Burna Boy, Runtown, Davido, Yemi Alade, Nasty C, Mafikizolo, Sauti Soul, Skales, Teckno, were listed. According to him, the album would be a combination of sounds, with its major component being Electronic mus

Without doubt, Kriz Beatz has taken the life of Nigerian producer in stride. In the short time he has appeared on the scene, he has already worked on some interesting projects and he looks set to do even more. It would be an interesting wait to see who wins the 2017 producer of the year award, a category in which Kriz Beatz has a good claim. However, for those observing, it should be clear from here that a music production giant is on the rise.
